An Introduction to NLP

Facilitated by David Perridge

5th February 2011 at The White Rock Hotel, Hastings

Introduction to Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Ever felt the frustration involved in wanting to help someone who is seemingly "stuck" in a problem, unable to see a way out? Yes?

What if you can add to your repertoire techniques and ways of working that will assist people to gain new insights and perspectives, giving them greater flexibility and choice?

Could it be that this will be useful to you? Yes? Then this introduction to NLP is something you may decide you will want to invest in.

The day will be an interactive exploration of some of the key basic principles of NLP. It will be delivered in such a way that you will leave with practical and effective tools and techniques to use in both your professional and your personal life.

Aspects we will cover may include;

        •    The use of perceptual positions
        •    Empowering language
        •    The use of time

NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship),

Certified Trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming

I have had over 20 years of experience teaching in a wide variety of contexts, the last 12 years being in schools working with children and young people demonstrating a broad range of social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. Over the years I have held various positions of responsibility, and I am currently Director of Learning (Upper School) at The New School at West Heath in Sevenoaks. Fascinated by the ways in which we process our experience of the world and by how we can, with integrity, influence others so that they have more choice, freedom, and flexibility in their lives, I qualified as a Trainer of NLP in January 2009.

My work in school now sees me leading the training of school staff in aspects of NLP which has become an established part of our culture. The central focus of this training is on developing practical ways to support students overcome blocks to their learning, and in enabling staff to be increasingly effective in working in what can often be highly pressurised situations.

As well as training groups of staff I also offer additional training, for example through twilight sessions for parents, local authority representatives, and others. I also  work with a small number of staff and students, supporting them to resolve particular issues relating to anxiety, phobias etc. In addition, I have also organised an external  NLP Practitioner course which was open to the public.
