Working with Trauma

This workshop is suitable for participants who encounter clients who
have experienced trauma and wish to explore their understanding/ gain new
perspectives of this area. The day will cover definitions of trauma and Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder and consider salient issues including
co-morbidity, types of trauma and ways of working with clients. If participants
choose there will be opportunities to consider personal experiences of
difficult events in the context of theoretical perspectives.
DR RUTH RUSHTON
Dr Rushton is a Chartered Clinical and Forensic Psychologist
and has worked as a psychologist
for more than twenty years. She has worked in a range of settings, with
different client groups, including clients presenting with a range of
mental health issues, substance misuse problems, people in prison (male and
female, young and adult offenders), families with young children, children with
disabilities and work with traumatised people (e.g. assaults at work, car
accidents, combat trauma). Dr Rushton works for the NHS and also for Action For
Change, an Alcohol and Substance misuse service in Hastings, East Sussex.
