Introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Approaches
This workshop is aimed at people with limited experience/ knowledge of
cognitive behavioural therapy and those with an interest in integrating
cognitive techniques into their own practice. The aims are to provide
a theoretical overview of the model and guided practice in using cognitive
techniques.
Participants should complete the sessions with a clear
understanding of basic cognitive behavioural theory underpinning therapeutic
approaches and gained experience/ confidence in using particular cognitive
techniques to explore a client's world.
Dr Ruth Rushton
Dr Rushton is a Chartered Clinical and Forensic Psychologist
and has worked as a psychologist
for more than twenty years. She has worked in a range of settings, with
different client groups, including clients presenting with a range of
mental health issues, substance misuse problems, people in prison (male and
female, young and adult offenders), familes with young children, children with
disabilities and work with traumatised people (e.g. assaults at work, car
accidents, combat trauma). Dr Rushton works for the NHS and also for Action For
Change, an Alcohol and Substance misuse service in Hastings, East Sussex.
